Say Goodbye to Mice and Rats with Owl Boxes

Eco-friendly and effective pest control.

When it comes to pest control, many people immediately think of traps, poisons, and other harmful methods. However, there is a natural and eco-friendly solution that can effectively get rid of mice and rats: owl boxes. These birdhouses provide a safe and inviting environment for owls, who are natural predators of rodents. In this article, we will explore the benefits of owl boxes and how they can help control pest populations.

Owls are known for their excellent hunting skills and their diet consists mainly of small rodents such as mice and rats. By providing a safe and comfortable home for owls, you are essentially inviting them to your property to help control the pest population. This natural method of pest control is not only effective, but it also eliminates the need for harmful chemicals and traps.

Eco-Friendly Solution

Using owl boxes for pest control is an eco-friendly solution that does not harm the environment or other animals. Unlike poisons and traps, owl boxes do not pose a threat to other wildlife or pets. Owls are also a natural part of the ecosystem and their presence can help maintain a balance in the environment.

Low Maintenance

Owl boxes require very little maintenance, making them a convenient and hassle-free option for pest control. Once installed, they can provide a home for owls for many years to come. Unlike traps and poisons, which need to be constantly monitored and replaced, owl boxes only need to be cleaned out twice a year to remove any debris or old nesting materials.

Cost-Effective

Compared to other methods of pest control, owl boxes are a cost-effective solution. They have a one-time installation cost and do not require any ongoing expenses. This makes them a budget-friendly option for those looking to control pest populations without breaking the bank.

Attractive Addition to Your Property

Owl boxes are not only functional, but they can also be a beautiful addition to your property. They come in a variety of designs and can be customized to fit your personal style. By adding an owl box to your garden or backyard, you are not only helping control pests, but you are also creating a welcoming environment for these majestic birds.

Once an owl takes up residence in an owl box, it will begin to hunt for rodents in the surrounding area. Owls have excellent eyesight and hearing, so they are able to locate rodents even in low-light conditions. Owls are also very agile and powerful predators, so they are able to catch and kill rodents quickly and efficiently. Studies have shown that owl boxes can be very effective at reducing rodent populations. One study found that a single owl box can reduce the number of rodents in an area by up to 50%.

If you are struggling with a rodent problem on your property, having PCAC install an owl box is a great way to get rid of these pests naturally and effectively. Owl boxes are also a great way to support owls and other wildlife. Owlets likewise cannot perch outside the box and thus be exposed to predation. Grooves (grip grooves) below the entrance hole assist adults entering the box. The design includes two doors—an end clean-out door and a top door which provides access to the interior during clean-out and monitoring activities.
